The quality of curtain wall connector welding can be determined by following three steps: visual inspection, internal inspection, and compliance verification.
Visual Inspection
Acceptance Criteria: The weld surface is smooth and flat, free from visible defects such as cracks, porosity, slag inclusions, incomplete penetration, and undercut; the weld length, weld leg size, and weld width meet design requirements; the weld filling is uniform and continuous, with no obvious unevenness or protrusions on the surface.
Inspection Method: After cleaning the weld, observe it with the naked eye or a magnifying glass, and measure the dimensions using calipers and a steel tape measure.
Internal Inspection
Acceptance Criteria: The weld interior is free from defects such as lack of fusion, slag inclusions, and cracks; the overall density meets the standards.
Inspection Methods:
Radiological Inspection: Using X-ray or gamma-ray imaging, internal defects such as porosity and slag inclusions can be clearly identified.
Ultrasonic Inspection: Relying on sound wave reflection to locate internal defects, this method offers high sensitivity and convenient detection.
Compliance Verification
Verification Basis: The welding connection method and process must meet the design requirements, current welding specifications, and the requirements of the "Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Building Decoration and Renovation Engineering". Simultaneously, the completeness and validity of the concealed works acceptance records and construction records must be verified.
Structural Requirements: Welding installation must be firm; the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of the connectors must meet the curtain wall structure design requirements; and there must be no loosening or displacement at the connection positions.
